The Model 39 is designed to not hurt it's self when dry fired. However, we are talking about beating on those parts with a hammer. Literally. My worry is that some day, some how, the firing pin stop will wear enough to allow contact with the chamber. If that happens we've got a problem.

Marlin 39a missfires. My 3 year old 39A missfires after about 5 or 6 shots. The next 2 or 3 missfire.The firing pin barely dents the rim of the cartridge. Then fires 5 or 6 more and same thing happens. Have tried different brands of ammo to no avail. Cleaned everything and firing pin is not peened and the chamber rim is not dented.
