The difference to me is my preference for a small red dot. The Romeo 1 is a 3 MOA dot. Vortex Viper RD is a 6 MOA dot. I don't think anyone's possessed a Romeo Zero for 20000 hours yet, let alone after installing good batteries. I have every confidence a year+ is likely. I change all my RDS batteries first week of new year (unless I get the RDS later in the year).Not typical in my experience (I have three of the Romeo-1 units on three separate SIG pistols). I don't know how long the batteries last because I change them every 6 months but I have never had a battery die yet, and I carry one of the Romeo equipped pistols daily, and do extensive dry fire daily and range work weekly with the other two.
