The smooth back strap is definitely a Model 58 feature. A real tell on this gun is the juncture between the barrel and frame. The Model 58 frame isn't grooved for a barrel rib and is also lower than the barrel rib on a target sighted barrel. Oct 18, 2023 · New From S&W "Response". The Response. A new pistol caliber carbine in 9mm. It is an AR style gun and is non folding. Will accept multiple mags due to swapable mag wells. Uses M&P handgrip with interchangeable back straps. M-loc rail....uses a standard AR type fire control group so you can easily swap the trigger.

Inserted guide rod/spring fine and ensured it was all the way down and even. Placed the slide on the frame, but could not get the slide back far enough for the slide lock to engage.
