If you're new or casual then EoD will make your learning experience much easier and less frustrating. I'd say there isn't really much of a difference besides a tiny bit more of space and 3 more squares in your pouch, which you can still get both by playing the game. Prepare for escape is honestly really good.

Arena alone cost $35. The EOD version of tarkov is $40 more than the next tier below that for EFT. Them including arena in the EOD version isn't some great thing BSG did that they should be commended for. It was literally nothing but a ploy to get more people to pay for EOD. There isn't a college course, youtube video or training course you can do to prepare for the fire hose of information that you'll experience within the first few weeks of EOD Phase 1. It doesn't hurt to have some basic understanding of chemistry and 7th grade math skills, but really there isn't much you can prepare for.
