Boysen State Park is a public recreation area surrounding the Boysen Reservoir, an impoundment of the north-flowing Wind River, in Fremont County, Wyoming. The state park covers more than 35,000 acres (14,000 ha) at the south end of the Owl Creek Mountains at the mouth of the Wind River Canyon .

The small historic town of Shoshoni (named for the Shoshone Tribe) lies between Thermopolis and Riverton. This beautiful Wyoming state park is the largest in the state and surrounds the state’s largest reservoir, Boysen Reservoir. Boysen also built a 710kw power plant at the site. Operations ceased when in 1923 a major flood filled the plant with silt. The CB&O Railroad went through the canyon in 1911 and the state highway went through in 1925. Keep in mind the central focus for recreation revolves around watercraft, so without one it might be boring.
