Because of the plastic cover on the shaft, I can barely get my hand in to pull on the connection. And I can't get it to budge. The only video I can find is on a large tractor, not a close-up of what he's doing, and it appears he can grab the shaft with one hand while pulling the connection back with the other hand.

Re: Super A PTO shaft removal in reply to Jon, 12-01-2002 10:14:46. Just did mine yesterday on a "49" Super A. You have to take the gear off and tap it out from the inside. You will have to get the gear off the shaft and remove the woodruff key before it will come out. Mine still had the leather seals in it.

This allowed the shaft with bearing to slide out the back of the axle housing. The snap ring actually sits inside the collar a is a stop for how far the two shafts slide in. Once I pressed the bearing off the short shaft I was able to removed the damaged washer.
