I have a 2009 Honda Civic and while I was on the road with my cruise control on it had some issues. The car kicked off of cruise control and the dash board of my car the RPM's went to 0 and the heat sensor shut off. The check engine light came on and the green light next to "D" was flashing. It accelerated for maybe 20 seconds (going past 5mph) before I could feel like a small jerk (like as if my car just went into neutral) and my drive light (the "D" on the dashboard) starts blinking. It was in-fact the not the key not the immobilizer but the pcm. The car shot a code p0606 which means there is internal damage to the ecu which needs to acknowledge the computer when the key is inserted along through the immobilizer.
