I just had this issue with my 23 monkey. It happened at 560 miles after going about 50 mph for about 5 miles. The engine size does not matter too much. When I swaped the engine on my ZX (Longitudal 2.8 I6) I keept it under 3000rpm for the first 10k miles; It is a manual, but this is actually a normal break-in period.
