There is a fan that pulls air in underneath the gateway; can elevate the modem to improve airflow. If the humming is unbearable I recommend that you swap it out again.My modem is the Motorola one when Gigablast first came out, it was the only Motorola of the 3 supported by Cox, and I bought it because the reviews for the other two mentioned dropped packets/connections and the fact that they both had the same processor/chipset while the Motorola one had a different chipset/processor.
