If price isn’t a big factor and out of the box performance is, then the Staccato is the way to go. If you’re willing to tinker if needed and price is a factor then the Prodigy is less expensive but appears more likely to have issues (though most seem easily solved). The stock fire control units in a P are machined and better quality than factory Prodigy. The DLC finish is LIGHT YEARS better than the Cerakote on the prodigy, my P has a DLC barrel as well. I had 1 20 rd Prodigy mag that wouldn't drop free from my P, I had 1 17rd Prodigy mag that wouldn't engage the slide stop fully on my P. So I got rid of those 2. The other 6 or so mixed 17, 20rd Prodigy mags seem to be ok in my P, but I haven't shot the P all that much.

Only thing I didn’t like about Houtlaw review is he used the Staccato mag in majority of the review. Most people won’t buy the prodigy if they own Staccatos. Stock mags seem to be one of the problems with the prodigy. I held and racked a prodigy in my local FFL and I thought it was smooth felt good in the hand.

Both the prodigy's were $1400 OTD at a lgs. so $1,000 savings vs the Staccato for me (for 1 Prodigy vs 1 Staccato). Of course now I want the P, cause buy all the guns. Even if I add an EGW ignition kit to the 5", I'd still be $850 cheaper than the P. For some that is pocket change, for others, not so much.
