Make sure to Practice lip slurs: start 2nd-line Bb and play to F and back, then F, octave Bb, F, Bb. Bb, F, Bb, D, back down and so on until you've gone as high as you can. Spend a few minutes doing that and use all 7 positions. Focus on maintaining a solid sound in the alternates; sometimes they can sound a bit hollow or off.

Focus on making it easy first- just enough pressure, just enough muscle use, easy air. Don't just hack out the notes just to do it- do it right.The lowest commonly used note on the trombone is a written E below the stave (bass clef). The highest note, for most competent players, is a high C, which is written an octave above the stave (bass clef). The tenor trombone can also play a lower pedal Bb. A trombone with an F attachment can extend chromatically into the lower notes.

The upper register for most intermediate players would be F-natural above the staff, but you'd probably be safe to include some high F-sharps or G-naturals. I'd also suggest you not write a trombone part that spends all of its time in the upper-mid/upper register; that can tire out even experienced players rather quickly and blow their chops.
