No its just solo. Unfortunately the RGN is pretty bad. Legendary lost sector rng is bad. Id do master if at all possible. Nope, you can die as many times as you want but it is all down to rng. Sometimes it'll happen where you don't get an exotic in like 20 runs. There are 12 exotic gauntlets for hunters, so I have 1/12 chance to get one. However, the exotic drop rate from legend lost sectors is known to be around 25% (master only giving like 30-40 ish). Sometimes, it can take dozens of legend lost sector clears in order to get one drop (even 25% is not enough to give you one guaranteed after 4 clears).

The point is, you will walk away from farming nightfalls for an hour with far more exotics than you would from a master lost sector. The beauty of lost sectors is you can count on which armor type your drop is going to be whereas with Nightfalls it is truly random. Legends will be easier, Masters have a better "chance" at a drop. You have to weigh time vs reward. If it takes 2-3 times longer to run a Master over a Legend and or you have a higher chance of failure, just run the Legend. You should get a drop around 10-20 runs on average, but it could be as few as 2-3 runs if RNG really likes you.

The legend exotic drop rate needs to increase from 25% to 75% (3x as much), and the cores need to go up to at least 6-10.
