PTR is only up when there is a patch or something to test. Since 8.3 has come out, there is nothing to test right now. PTR should not even be up. Beta for new expansions is NOT PTR. Beta tests are not done on PTR servers. There are special beta servers set up for beta testing. Beta for Shadowlands is still a long ways off yet.
If you click launch in Battle.net and nothing happens, make sure game version is 'WoW Classic Era PTR > click the gear > Show in Explorer > open the ‘_ptr2 _’ folder > Open ‘WowClassicT.exe’. That should get the game to open for you. If you still have problems, I don’t know, but I’m sure someone does so ask under here.While I have no issues playing live version, the 10.1 PTR crashes every time I launch it. It never makes it to the game screen. Just crashes. The only thing I knew to do was scan for errors and it said it didn’t find any. It gave 35303B83-7F61-4020-9D8D-6A516D536A62 as a report ID. PTR is for advertising and pre-launch minor bug testing and tuning. They also don’t want PTRs to become servers where people just play the game or spend weeks preparing and theorycrafting. Click the Create Account button. JOIN THE PTR: Open the Blizzard Battle.net App and select World of Warcraft Classic from your Games list. In the selector above the Play button, change your Region / Account to WoW Classic Era PTR. Click Install (or Update) to install the PTR client. This becomes a Play button when ready.
